Carnew Musical Society – Best Supporting Actor Award
Heartiest congratulations to John Young on winning Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal as Jud FryCarnew Musical Society’s production of Oklahoma last November. This richly deserved award was the 2nd of two nominations for John, having been nominated for his role of Scrooge in C.M.S’s production of A Christmas Carol. The Awards which are usually attended by over 1,000 people in The Glen Eagle Hotel in Killarney were this year were presented on line with a socially distant ensemble.
Many congratulations also to our two other nominees, who received Runner-Up Awards, Debbie Furlong and her Front of House team for Best House Management
And Erin Hogan who was runner-up as Best Actress for her portrayal of Laurey.
Due to Covid restrictions, the Society could not get together as a group, but as many as possible connected on line.
SPLIT THE POT
Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew Split the Pot has resumed with the first draw on Friday 2nd October, envelopes have to be in by the Tuesday of each week on account of the virus, envelopes are available from the school or local shops.
Following on from our recent Walking Trails Audit where our walking trails were highly commended, we would love to share the beauty & amenities of Askamore and to showcase Sliabh Bhui & it’s amazing views.
With this in mind, we will be holding a series of guided walks around 3 of our trails on Saturday, October 10th at 11am starting from Askamore Community Centre (Y25 F6D8)
Join our group of local guides who will impart their knowledge and let you experience the beauty of Sliabh Bhui and Askamore from either our 6, 9 or 12km trails.
This is a fantastic time of year to get walking boots on and see the Autumnal colours of Askamore.
These trails are all graded moderate and are suitable for all abilities.
There will be a cost of €10 per person and this will include refreshments in our newly renovated community centre afterwards.
And don’t worry, All social distancing & hygiene practices will be adhered to on the day.
We would be delighted if you’d join us on the day and why not bring your friends too!
