Heritage Council Community Heritage Grant Scheme Now Open

Applications are invited for capital projects that improve access and inclusion to heritage sites.

The scheme also supports the purchase of specialised equipment.

Grants of up to €15,000 can be awarded.

Funding of up to 80 per cent of the project cost can be sought.

Match funding by way of voluntary contributions or benefit in kind is acceptable.

In the early hours of 25 August,  two catalytic converters were stolen in Kilcoole.

GMD Council Chamber,  Mill Road:  11:30 a.m.

Special meeting is to pass resolution to appoint Kilian House Family Centre as venue.

Venue for the usual monthly GMD meeting to be held Tuesday,  29 September 2020.

No other business will be discussed at this special meeting.

Whale Theatre|Culture Night|Alex Petcu:  Solo Percussion

8:00 p.m.  Doors,  7:30 p.m.

Admission is free as part of Culture Night,  but tickets must be booked.

Alex is quickly establishing himself,  both nationally and internationally.

He is a percussionist of the finest calibre.

Alex performs regularly with the RTE Concert and Symphony Orchestras.

Ulster and Irish Chamber Orchestras,  as well as with the Crash Ensemble.

Alex will present a fascinating programme for solo percussion on a variety of instruments.

He will also use home-made instruments made from aluminium,  brass wood,  glass,  ceramics.

Hot Spot Music Club|Crest of a Wave:  Rory Gallagher Tribute

Crest of a Wave takes you on a journey through Rory’s back catalogue.

Taste classics,  deep cuts from the Irish Tour 1974 and some of Rory’s marvellous styles.

This is a high energy,  electric blues/rock show that is not to be missed !!

Rory was born in Ballyshannon,  Co. Donegal in 1948.

He was originally part of the band,  Taste,  in the 1960s.

He then went on to record many solo albums through the 1970s and 1980s.

Whale Theatre|Lucia and Maria

Violin virtuoso duo,  Lucia MacPartlin and Maria Ryan,  return to the Whale Theatre.

They met while studying in Cork.

In Cork,  they also formed the traditional Irish quartet,  Strung.

Lucia and Maria combine their traditional,  classical and folk influences to stunning effect.

They completed their Masters degrees in Sweden before returning home to record albums.

This time,  they will perform a concert of new music.

Their aim is to forever push the boundaries of fiddle music.

Maximum of 30 per class.  New policies and procedures will be in place.

Greystones resident Rosemarie Devereux holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from UCD.

She has been involved with the National Gallery of Ireland and UCD art courses.

Rosemarie has run her art history courses at the NGI and is on its tour guide panel.

Rosemarie now brings her two courses to the Whale Theatre.

The Visual Story of Ireland begins on 7 October 2020.

The Story of Europe|Painting History begins on 29 October 2020.
