Green Party Councillor Lourda Scott is hosting a free online meeting on Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) Thurs Oct 15th 8pm. Scott says: “As we approach the winter months people start turning on the heating and thinking on how they can make their homes better insulated and more energy efficient. For a lot of us we don’t know where to start. Working together as a community means a shared workload, better value for money, and a bigger impact . SECs are where groups of people come together to improve how energy is used for the benefit of their community. They examine how we can use energy in a sustainable, holistic way looking at projects in homes, transport and local business. They also look at community buildings such as schools, community centres, and sports facilities.
This meeting will be provide the opportunity to learn more about local SEC in Greystones/Delgany with speakers Simon Whelan SEAI SEC Mentor, and Adam Calihman, Greystones Tidy Towns and SEC member. This online meeting will take the form of two short presentations followed by Q and A. It aims to provide our community with an overview of the SEC journey so far and the next steps we hope to take in the area, including a chat about different technologies such as insulation upgrades; solar PV and heat pumps.
This event will be of great interest to anyone keen to learn more about community led energy projects and energy saving.
