Dunlavin notes week January 18th


The death has occurred of Syl  Gannon (former Postman in Dunlavin) Gormanstown, Kilcullen, Kildare on January 15th 2021 at Naas General Hospital.

He is deeply regretted by his loving wife Anne, son Peter, daughter Helena, son in law Graham, granddaughters Áine and Órlaith, brother, sisters, brothers in law, sisters in law, niece, nephew’s relatives and friends.

Requiem Mass took place at 11am on Sunday morning in the Church of Sacred Heart and St Bridget’s Kilcullen, burial afterwards to new Abbey Cemetery Kilcullen.

The death has occurred of Joan Dyson Hendry, Donard, Wicklow

Hendry, Joan Dyson, Knockandarragh, Donard, Co. Wicklow. January 12th 2021. Loving wife of the late Robert. Will be sadly missed by Sileas, Linda, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Paul, Hugo and families, cousin John, extended family, her Irish nieces, nephews Littly, Kali, Stephen, Liberty, Siobhán, Impi, grand nieces and nephews Cian, Jay, Aoife, Friya, Taran, Alex, Lucy and all her friends far and near whose lives she touched.

The death has occurred of Rt. Rev. Robert Alexander (Roy) WARKE, Sandymount, Dublin former Rector of Dunlavin.

Rt. Rev. Robert Alexander (Roy) (late of Brabazon House, Sandymount, formerly of Naas, Cork, Dublin, Co. Wicklow, Co. Down and originally Co. Laois), January 12th 2021; beloved husband of the late Eileen (December 2020), much loved father of Jane and Ruth, adored grandfather of Ben, Matthew, Jack and Alice, great-grandfather of Noah. Loved and remembered always by his family, sons-in-law Jim and Vincent, the extended family and his wide circle of friends

Mobile Recycling

Mobile Recycling has recommenced.  Blessington first Saturday ,outside Secondary School.(Naas Road) 10-12.

Dunlavin 2nd Saturday outside Church of Ireland 10-12.

Hollywood 3rd Saturday outside the National school 10-12.

 GAA Grounds

Dunlavin GAA grounds have now reopened the gates to allow people use the walkway around the pitch. No dogs allowed.

The bottle banks are also re-opened. If banks are full please do not leave glass on the ground, this creates a danger for others.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels continue to deliver meals on Wednesdays in the area. If anyone would like a hot dinner delivered to their home please telephone 0879693960.

Panic Buttons

Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303.

Family Carers Ireland 

Family  Carers Ireland are seeking volunteers in Dunlavin and the surrounding area to give 1 to 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their own home who are experiencing loneliness and isolation.

The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide.

Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
