Bray Greystones Cliff Walk Closed

Due to recent heavy rainfall,  the Cliff Walk has been closed at the request of Gardaí.

The cliff has become very unstable in parts and resulted in a number of landslides.

Wicklow County Council are assessing the situation to determine remedial actiions.

Your co-operations is very much appreciated by them at this time.

Codling Wind Park Public Consultation

Codling Wind Park is a proposed offshore wind farm.

The wind farm would be located approximately 13-22 km off the Wicklow Coast.

Between Greystones and Wicklow Town.

It is the largest planned offshore wind project in Ireland.

It could provide enough locally produced electricity to 1.2 million Irish homes.

This electricity would be low-cost renewable energy.

Public Consultation is now under way for the first four weeks in March.

This consultation will consist of three programmes.

          Virtual Codling Wind Park Exhibition from 1 to 14 March 2021

          Range of exhibition materials and visuals on the project as it now stands.

          Feedback survey available.

          Codling Wind Park Webinars on 9 March and 11 March 2021

            Registration is via the website.

          There will also be an opportunity to ask questions via chat box.

This consultation is very important for two of our major tourist areas.

Restrictions on Cutting or Destruction of Vegetation or Hedgerows

We are now in the birdnesting and breeding season until 31 August 2021.

Hedge cutting and clearing of vegetation is now restricted.

Help keep our wildlife safe !!

However,  cutting and clearing  are allowed for road safety reasons.

Free Biodiversity Training Course

Course is being organised by County Wicklow Partnership and WCC Heritage Office.

Training is for those community groups interested in making their area biodiversity friendly.

Groups could include Tidy Towns groups,  Men’s Sheds,  sports clubs.

Residents Associations and more.

Training will be delivered by

  • Faith Wilson,  ecologist.
  • Dick Coombes,  ornithologist.
  • Professor Ken Whelan,  fisheries biologist.

Volunteers will learn how to protect and enhance the biodiversity in their areas.

It will give them a plan to help support long term improvement in their biodiversity.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12 March 2021.
