Theme of this year’s annual art competition is Here Comes The Summer.

Competition is open to children of all ages and runs until 30 April 2021.

Entries can be in any material,  from pavements to paints.

Poetry Day Dreland is Thursday,  29 April 2021.

Greystones’ Poetry Trail 2021 competition is now open.

Come and join Whale Theatre and curator Frances Browner to this year’s competition.

Greystones Poetry Trail is also supported by Greystones 2020.

Theme is New Directions: Maps and Journeys.

People of all ages are welcome to submit a poem.

It can be a sonnet,  rhyme,  limerick,  pantourm or any other kind of poem.

Poems should be no longer than 16 lines.

Greystones Library|Spring Into Springtime

Lots of activities this year for WCC Library Service.

Series of virtual events are based around reading and listening to stories.

Experience reading as an activity which is fun and entertaining.

Families can share time together.

  • Authors Sarah Webb and Alan Nolan host book quiz on 23 April 2021.
  • Family Quiz on Saturday,  24 April 2021.
  • Zoom story times for junior and senior infant classes on request.
  • Author visit from Ronan Moore, “Irishology”, Irishography” and “Young Fionn”.

  • Virtual crafting sessions.

Building Mental Toughness Free Webinar

Thursday,  22 April 2021 at 7:30 p.m.

Webinar will be led by Lorna Lawless,  coach psychologist.

She will show us core skills of the mental toughness model.

This model includes control,  commitment, challenge and confidence.

Mental toughness can vary over time.

Learn how to deal with setbacks.

The role of physical activity in maintaining mental wellbeing will be examined.

Theme of the competition is Staying Connected and Minding Your Mood.

Staying connected with people,  looking after people can help mental wellbeing.

Also addressing their isolation.

Pictures must be entered in landscape format and come with a title.

Please include where the photograph was taken.

Name, address and phone number of the photographer.

Winner will receive voucher to value of €100.

Four runners up will receive vouchers to value of €50.

A selection of photographs will be displayed online after competition is over.

Entrants under the age of 18 must have permission of guardian or parent.

Photograph must be minimum of 2400 x 3000 pixels in digital format.

Or have minimum file size of 2.5 MB,  no greater than 5 MB.

Bray Area Partnership|Parents Plus Parenting Adolescents

Programme will start in the late spring. 

Suitable for parents and people caring for adolescents aged 11 to 16.

Including those with additional needs such as ADHD.

Topics include getting to know and connecting with your teacher.

And communicating positively and effectively.

Participants will also learn about building your teen-ager’s self esteem and confidence.

Negotiating rules and boundaries and teaching teenagers responsibly.

Course is evidence based,  will last for six weeks and is free.

WCC Community Awards Scheme 2021

Grants are for community groups and local organisations undertaking community projects.

Maximum grant of €500 for small projects and group running costs.

One application only per group.

All of us in Greystones are part of the prevention of COVID-19 spread.
