Annacurra notes week May 10th

Annacurra

Annacurra Tidy Towns

We are getting our Tidy Towns application form ready and busy finalising plans for projects around the village.  We will be painting, planting and cleaning up in the coming weeks.  We have six more planters arriving in addition to the two planters already in the church car park last month.  We would like to thank Nicolette Van Der Wel for helping with the costs of the plants for these and for her invaluable knowledge.

We are planting outside of the GAA grounds, thanks to the GAA and to Liam and Vanessa Moules from Woodside nurseries for their help on this.

After the huge effort put in by everyone in the community on our last clean up we will be organising another pick up on Monday 17th May, thanks to Tommy Nolan for keeping us supplied with bags and organising collections.  Also to Richie Ðoyle whose excellent video highlighting the beauty of our area and the damage rubbish causes went viral on our Facebook page. Let’s hope we don’t collect another 95 bags this time.

These are just a part of our plans, if anyone would like to sponsor a planter, or donate towards compost or plants we would really appreciate it, if you would like to join our growing WhatsApp group to help out or be kept informed please contact any of our committee – Linda Hannay 0879039537, Aideen Jordan 0878155336, Fainche Murphy 0863341384, Veronica O Flaherty 0876279707, Jude Dalton, Tom Dalton, Brian Moran 0872355748, Mick Hanney and Darragh Harper.

Playground Committee- Car Treasure Hunt

A reminder to join us this Sunday afternoon 16th May for a fun filled car treasure hunt around the parish. Starting at the Community Centre car park from 2pm till 5, €10 entry per car, receive a map with directions and guess the clues. It will be a great afternoon for all to enjoy, while staying safe. Winners of the hunt will receive a beautiful Hamper.

This event will raise funds for an amazing addition of an All-ability swing to the playground and also to help fund Christmas lights for the village.

Preban Graveyard

The book on Preban Cemetery has just been published. It contains a brief history of the cemetery and a photographic record of the Headstones and is available at €10 per copy. For details contact Yvonne Whitty 087 2111153 or Jack Lynch 087 9417642
