Cllr Tom Fortune has welcomed the news that Coláiste Chraobh Abhann, Kilcoole have purchased a site adjacent to the school.
Speaking to Wicklownews Cllr Fortune said “We received great news last evening confirming the acquisition of 4 acres of land by the department of education which will enable us to grow CCA ( Colaiste Chraobh Abhann ) with the relevant infrastructure.
CCA is to grow to a 1000 pupil college which is great for our community.
The board of CCA are delighted , our principle Mr Stack and his staff are delighted and his tenacity has been a great asset. This will enable him to plan properly for the future, we look forward to working with him and his staff on this.
The parents in our community are delighted, we sincerely thank the KWETB , our TD’s, and Department of education for their input and assistance, we appreciate it. This has been a long road
It started 9 years ago, it really took off two years ago. It involved meetings, emails, letters, arm twisting.
It is a great day for our community.
The immediate challenge we have now is to make sure we have the promised temporary accommodation in place for school reopening in September. This is vital and we need all hands on the wheel to ensure this happens.”
