Active Retirement

Laragh/Glendalough Active Retirement Group were sad to hear of the sudden passing of Fr. Crotty, we would like to express our sincere condolences to Fr. Crotty’s family. He was a member of our group and regularly attended our weekly meetings and monthly lunches prior to Covid. He will be greatly missed by us all and the community.

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday morning 28th September for Tea/Coffee, light exercise and a catch up from 10.45am – 12pm at the Brockagh Centre. We will hopefully be back to normal during the month of October and be able to resume our weekly meetings. We always welcome new members to join our group.

If anyone would like to offer their services or share their skills with the group please contact the centre.

Wicklow Volunteer Awards – Nominations 2021

County Wicklow Volunteer Centre is delighted to announce our first volunteer awards.

These awards are a recognition of the many individuals and groups of people that work tirelessly in Wicklow to provide services to the old, the young, the lonely, the sporty, and the vulnerable.

The awards will recognise the local historians, the tidy towners, DIYers and volunteers looking after animals.

The awards will give a bow to the information givers, the help-line listeners and the English language tutors.

So please nominate your heroes. Contact leah@volunteerwicklow.ie for further information.

Please note that Wicklow Volunteer Awards may potentially go virtual this year, if public health guidelines permit, we will host the ceremony in the Wicklow County Buildings on Tuesday October 19th from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Each category requires you to nominate ONE volunteer, with the exception of the Local Hero Award where 5 local heroes, one in each Municipal District, Arklow, Baltinglass, Bray, Greystones & Wicklow Town, will be honoured.
