Carnew notes week October 4th


Nancy Byrne from Shillelagh would like to say a big thank you to Annette Nolan and all of Shillelagh Community Alert and everyone for their kind thoughts, good wishes and prayers during her illness in the past year. Thank you all.


Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Joe Doyle, Boley who died during the week.


Carnew ploughing society are holding their ploughing match on Saturday 9th October in Tomacork  on lands kindly donated by John Hall , entries in by Wednesday 6th to Kevin on 087 6732437.


The book by Kevin Lee called The Liars Bench is on sale in Candys, Victor Youngs and online at at €20.


There will be a clothes collection on 13th October from 8am -6pm in St Bridget’s Hall Carnew, reusable clothes, shoes, handbags, belts, clean bed linen, curtains, hats, no pillows or duvets please.

The next drive in bingo is on Sunday 10th October at 2pm in Carnew mart


The Garda in Carnew are setting up a text alert in the area, forms have been given out to most houses and if you are interested in joining  please return the form by the weekend to the Garda Station or Victor Young’s.

It is hoped to have it up and running by the end of the month.

If you did not receive a form and would like to join then forms can be got from the Garda Barracks, Victor Youngs or the Post Office.


The lucky winner of our Split the Pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew who won €252 was Betty Browne. Congratulations Betty.

The winner of our seller’s prize who won a €10 voucher for Victors was Ally Byrne and the lucky dip winner was Reuben Wilkinson. Congratulations.

Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were 4,6,11,13, lucky dips were Catherine Osborne and Margaret Wilkinson, the next draw is 11th October and the jackpot is €9,100, tickets can be bought on line or in any of the local shops.Thanks to everyone for their support today it is much appreciated.
