Community gather to remember Will

The stunned community of Newcastle gathered in the centre of the village on Saturday evening to remember little Will Leeson who passed away on Friday.

Hundreds turned out for the candle lit vigil which included friends, school pals and team mates from Newcastle GAA club.

Families hugged, while sobs and cries could be heard as Shane Sinnott called for a minutes silence in remembrance of Will and his family.

As Revd. Ross Styles said prayers all eyes were on a table with a picture of Will, which had his name in candles, a ball and a Newcastle GAA jersey.

A Newcastle club member said “This community is stunned by the death of Will, as we could see this evening people just don’t know what to say, only Tuesday evening he was at training, my heart goes out to Andrew, Julie and Emily.”

Will’s funeral will take place on Monday morning October 18th, at 11.30am, walking to Newcastle Parish Church for 12 noon funeral service and thanksgiving for his life, followed by burial in the adjoining Churchyard.
