Dunlavin notes week October 25th

IMPORTANT: If your household is registered at St Nicholas of Myra, please reference your Envelope Number in the donation Notes Section to ensure your donation is allocated to our records.

The Parish team would like to express their gratitude and thanks to Suzanne Cummins for all her hard work on this project.

All Souls Envelopes – are now available in a basket at the back of the Church. Please return them with names enclosed, to Fr. Douglas before All Souls Day on November 2nd. Thank you.

Death

The death has taken place of  Phyllis Colton,(nee Gill), Toberbeg, Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow, October 17th, 2021. Peacefully surrounded by her loving family, in the exceptional care of the staff at Dunlavin Nursing Home. Beloved wife of the late Derek. Deeply regretted by her loving sons Ian and Trevor, daughters in law Trudi and Hilary and her beloved grandchildren, Justine, Ellen, Mark, Robert, Adam, Simon and Matthew, and great-grandchildren Leo and Poppy, sister Olive, brother Billy, sisters in law, godchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. Phyllis’s funeral took place in Dunlavin on Wednesday October 20th 2021. May she rest in peace.

Dunlavin’s Christmas Fair – will take place on Sunday, Nov 28th from 11am-4pm.

Death

The death has occurred of John O’Neill, Mill House, Kilgowan, Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, formerly of Ballynacally and Labasheeda, Co. Clare, at Naas General Hospital. Deeply regretted by his sister Mariam O’Donovan, Killaloe, nephew Denis, nieces Joy Bree and Lynn O’Neill, grandnephew Ryan, grandnieces Sarah and Ceara, wonderful neighbours and friends.

John’s funeral took place in Gormanstown on Wednesday October 20th 2021. May he rest in peace.

Soccer First Score Cards

The recent winners were Michael Phelan, John Cunningham, Vera O Hara and Mary Lynott. Thanks to all who support every week.

Pilgrimage to Knock – A two night pilgrimage to knock will take place on October 27th and 28th. Cost is €280 per person for full board. Further details from Ger or Josie Duffy 087-2543235 or 059-6471681.

Folk Group is coming back! – New and old members are welcome!  Folk group will be at 12 noon mass on Sunday, 24th October. After that Folk group will be at 12 noon mass every 2nd Sunday and 10am mass every 4th Sunday of the month.

Practice is 30 minutes before mass, and 30 minutes after mass.

Adoration – of the Blessèd Sacrament takes place in St Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin, on Thursday evenings from 9pm-10pm.  All are welcome!

Sympathy

The death took place of Mick Keogh, Leitrim, Glen of Imaal, Co. Wicklow.

Deeply regretted by his siblings  Oliver,  Ettie and Nance and extended family.

The funeral took place in  Davidstown with

Burial afterwards in Leitrim Cemetery.

May Mick rest in peace.

Teen Scene

After a very challenging year Teen Scene Dunlavin are looking forward to opening it’s doors again in September. They are currently looking to recruit new leaders. Mobile Recycling has Recommenced – Dunlavin 2nd Saturday outside Church of Ireland 10-12. Blessington 1st Saturday, outside Secondary School (Naas Road) 10-12. Hollywood 3rd Saturday outside the National school 10-12.

Panic Buttons – Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one and is living in the Dunlavin area, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303. 

Used Postage Stamps – Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the Parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated in the past.

Libraries have re-opened . Lots of exciting books in store, especially for children.

Great way to introduce young children to reading.

ALONE – manage a national support line and additional supports for older people who may have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8.00am – 8.00pm, by calling 0818 222 024

Family Carers Ireland 

Family  Carers Ireland are seeking volunteers in Dunlavin and the surrounding area to give 1 o 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their own home who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
