Gardaí Urge Safe Halloween 2021

Every year,  An Garda Síochána and Greystones Fire Service receive a number of callouts.

These are for bonfires and firework related incidents.

The Guards are urging parents to stay safe and not to buy fireworks for their children.

It is an offence to possess fireworks without a license.

Possession of unlicensed fireworks can result in a fine of up to €10,000.

Or up to five years imprisonment or both.

Fireworks can cause damage to property,  injury to people and animals.

They can be an annoyance to elderly people.

The Guards will continue to confiscate any fireworks found with persons without a license.

Tips for a Safe Halloween from An Garda Síochána

  • If attending organised fireworks or bonfire,  stay a safe distance away.
  • Young children should be accompanied for Trick or Treating.
  • When Trick or Treating,  avoid houses with no lights on.
  • Wear reflective material so that you can be seen by motorists and cyclists.
  • Keep pets indoors on Halloween Night.

Have a safe and happy Halloween this year !!
