Light Up Greystones 2021 with Santa Visit !!

4 pm               Due to COVID-19,  if the children can’t come to Santa,

                        Santa will come to the children.

Santa begins his visit around Greystones.

                        Santa will travel with his specially lit sleigh and house.

                        Children can wave to Santa as he passes by.

                        The famous Santa will be accompanied by Greystones Gardaí.

                        Greystones Fire Brigade and Santa’s hardworking elves.

  • Santa starts at Eden Gate.
  • Loop through Charlesland.
  • Greystones Rugby Club
  • Mill Road to Delgany Wood.
  • Past St. Laurence’s National School.
  • Loop of Beechbrook Park.
  • Passing SeaGreen/Waverly.
  • Down Blacklion Manor Road.
  • To Redford Park for a loop,  passing Rathdown Park.
  • Rathdown Road past St. Kevin’s National School.
  • To Greystones Harbour Marina plaza.
  • To Greystones Fire Station.
  • Finish up along Church Road through the town.

6 pm               Light Up Greystones 2021 Event Starts

Wicklow County Council|Proposed Road Closure at Top of Applewood Heights

WCC is proposing to close the top entrance of Applewood Heights at Chapel Road.

Closure to motorised vehicles to take effect from 3 December 2021.

Closure will be for six months.

Purpose of closure is to reduce volume of traffic through Applewood Heights.

To improve road safety for residents,  children and vulnerable road users.

Permanent closure will be reviewed following the trial period.

Any person wishing to object to the proposed closure should lodge objection to:

Allyson Minion,  Transportation & Roads,  roadtran@wicklowcoco.ie by 24 November at 12 pm.

Blessing of the Graves at Redford Cemetery

Sunday,  21 November 2021 at Redford Cemetery.

This is a big annual event,  remembering those who have gone before us.

Bogus Traders Calling Door to Door

Many people routinely employ door-to-door traders and repair people/contractors.

An Garda Síochána advise that anybody hiring such persons should observe the following:

  • Tell the caller that you never employ trades people “cold calling” to your door.
  • Ask for sales brochure or documentations that you can verify.
  • Documentation should have contact phone number,  address and VAT number.
  • Be careful if there is no address or only a mobile number.
  • Ask for itemised written quotation.
  • And names and addresses where they have previously worked successfully.
  • Never rely on the accuracy of the information given,  always verify.
  • Always seek comparable estimates for other established reputable companies.
  • Never engage a person who insists on cash payments.
  • Even when employing a reputable company,  use a payment method that is traceable.
  • Never leave strangers,  even bona fide workers,  unsupervised in your home.

Wonderful group for the over 55s in the Greystones and surrounding areas.
