Dunlavin notes week December 13th

GAA News

Dunlavin gaa lotto this week is a whopping €13,000. There is also a draw for 3 x €40 Doyles butchers vouchers. 

Tickets can be purchased online from our website or any of our local vendors.   Our christmas raffle tickets are also still available for sale, great prizes up for grabs, including €500, turkey & ham, trailer load of logs & lots more.

Tickets available from any of our committee members.   Our car wash was a huge success on Saturday, despite the poor weather, we were overwhelmed by the support and wish to thank all who turned up to have their car washed and gave a donation.  

Thank you to all for the continued support!  

As Christmas is almost upon us and the year draws to a close, we wish to send our best wishes to all those within the community who have supported the club this year.   To all the businesses, our members, to those from our community both near and far away, who have all supported our club, our fundraisers and our footballer teams on and off the field this year, we thank you all.   

We remember all those in our community we have lost this year, may they Rest in Peace.

Death

The death took place of Annie Sweeney, Logatryna, Dunlavin, Co.Wicklow formerly Curry, Co. Sligo -10th December 2021 (suddenly) at Dunlavin Nursing Home. Annie who was predeceased by her sister Kathleen Coyne will be sadly missed by her loving family, nieces Teresa Whelan and Susan Kirwan and nephews Gerald and Padraic.

Annie’s funeral Mass took place  on Tuesday, 14th December, at 10am in St. Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin, Co. Wicklow. This was followed by burial rwards at Rhue Cemetery, Co. Sligo. May Annie rest in peace.

Death

The death has taken place of Kitty Whittle

 Merginstown, Annalecky, Dunlavin, Co Wicklow, 7th December 2021. Unexpectedly at home. Wife of the late Joseph (Joe) and mother of Gretta, Joseph, May, Angela and Thelma. Sadly missed by her family, sons in law, daughter in law, grandchildren Rebecca, Sarah, Jessica, Owen, Hughy, Laura and Zoe, sister Betty, nieces, nephews extended family, relatives and friends. Kitty’s funeral Mass took place on December 13th in Dunlavin followed by burial in Dunlavin Cemetery. May she rest in peace.

Collection For Homeless

Adrienne Smart Muldowney will be collecting for the Peter McVerry Trust Newbridge for the homeless. Items can be Toiletries, new warm clothes, new children’s toys, non perishable food, gift cards. Contact Adrienne on 0851363858. Due to covid second hand items cannot be taken.

Christmas Cards

Support for the Christmas cards has never been more important. They are on sale in Dunlavin: Whelan’s Pharmacy and Dunlavin Health Centre; Donard – OKeeffe’s Family Store; Hollywood – Daly’s shop; Blessington – The Office Shop & McGreal’s Pharmacy; Baltinglass – Murphy Sherrin Veterinary –Crookstown Motors.  They are Irish made, 15 cards for €10. For every pack sold, €7 goes to research.  The Kearney Family Dunlavin would really appreciate your support for this fundraiser

Soccer First Score Cards

Folk Group is coming back! – New and old members are welcome!  Folk group will be at 12 noon mass on Sunday, 24th October. After that Folk group will be at 12 noon mass every 2nd Sunday and 10am mass every 4th Sunday of the month. Practice is 30 minutes before mass, and 30 minutes after mass. Mobile Recycling has Recommenced – Dunlavin 2nd Saturday outside Church of Ireland 10-12. Blessington 1st Saturday, outside Secondary School (Naas Road) 10-12. Hollywood 3rd Saturday outside the National school 10-12.

Panic Buttons – Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one and is living in the Dunlavin area, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303. 

Used Postage Stamps – Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the Parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated in the past.

Libraries have re-opened . Lots of exciting books in store, especially for children.

ALONE – manage a national support line and additional supports for older people who may have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8.00am – 8.00pm, by calling 0818 222 024

Family Carers Ireland 

Family  Carers Ireland are seeking volunteers in Dunlavin and the surrounding area to give 1 o 2 hours a week to visit an elderly person in their own home who are experiencing loneliness and isolation. The Irish Cancer Society – is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide.

Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
