Upcoming Programmes & Events at Purple House

Purple House Cancer Support Centre have a number of programmes and events planned which are open to Cancer patients and anyone affected by Cancer.

Public Information Talk on Lung Cancer:We are hosting an Online talk on ‘Lung Cancer’ on Thursday 27th January 2022 from 2pm-3pm GMT.
The informative talk will be given by Dr. Anne-Marie Baird.
Join us for this informative online talk on everything you need to know about lung cancer.

Dr Anne-Marie Baird is a molecular biologist, who has worked extensively on mesothelioma and lung cancer. She is currently a Senior Research Fellow in Trinity College Dublin. Anne-Marie has been active in the lung cancer advocacy space since 2012 and was recently elected as the president of Lung Cancer Europe (LuCE). LuCE is a non-profit umbrella organisation with members from over 20 countries. She is also part of a group of individuals which formed the Irish Lung Cancer Community (ILCC) earlier this year.

Cancer Thriving and Surviving Programme:
We will be running the Stanford Cancer Thriving & Surviving Programme starting Tuesday 8th February 2022 (2pm-4.30pm) for 6 Weeks in person at Purple House, and from Tuesday 13th September 2022 for 6 Weeks in person at Purple House.

 This is a self management programme for Cancer survivors (3 months post treatment) with the aim of improving your quality of life to better manage your daily health.

CLIMB Programme for Children:
Are you a parent with a cancer diagnosis, who has a child aged between 5 and 12 years old?
Purple House Cancer Support runs regular 6 week CLIMB Programmes in Purple House 2 Duncairn Tce, Bray, Co. Wicklow.  The next course starts on Wednesday 9th February from 3.30pm-4.30pm.

CLIMB stands for Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery.It is an enjoyable, sharing, interactive experience and a time for children to come together to deal with their feelings.

The programme will be delivered by our trained CLIMB facilitators in Purple House in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

Throughout the programme the children will develop an understanding of cancer and from this understanding the myths and fears that children can hold about cancer will be dispelled. The programme is creative, using drama, arts and play. They are also based on having fun together and meeting new friends.
