Major improvements to Arklow Running Track at Seaview Avenue will be undertaken by Arklow Municipal District as a result of a grant received from the Government.
Following the recent announcement from the Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Ms Catherine Martin TD, Arklow Municipal District is delighted to announce that a grant of €64,003 has been received for two projects within the district.
Arklow Running Track at Seaview Avenue will be enhanced with extra lighting with €43,704 of the funding awarded. It is the intention of Arklow Municipal District to carry out further upgrades of the facility when further funding streams become available.
The Coral Leisure Centre in Arklow was also awarded €20,299 to improve disability access in the Centre.
Cathaoirleach of Arklow Municipal District, Cllr Miriam Murphy, welcomed the funding for both projects saying: “The running track facility is a fantastic free amenity available for everyone in the community to use. The addition of floodlighting to the facility will enable it to be used during the winter months or at night-time which is not currently possible.”
She added: “Improving accessibility to the Coral Leisure facility will bring about increased quality of life, create better independence and better social integration. Both projects will enhance everyone’s overall health and wellbeing.”
