Wicklow County Arts Office is presenting three measures to support artists access funding and identify their needs for 2022.
This follow a successful pilot in 2021 on this triad of supports which are now being offered again. These include a Funding Clinic for Artists on the 23rd of February; Individual Funding Advice Clinics for up to 20 artists and Coaching Sessions for up to 20 artists.
Artists are invited to join the Funding Clinic session on February 23rd from10am –12pm on Zoom for a bespoke service with hints and tips on putting your best foot forward in making funding applications.
The session will be chaired by Paul Johnson, former CEO of Dance Ireland, and Board Member of Theatre Forum. Paul also previously worked in the Arts Council and currently works in a freelance capacity supporting artists and organisations in their strategic development and achieving their goals.
The workshop will also feature the voice of the artist. Anna Newell will share hints and tips on preparing funding applications from her experience. Anna has been based in Bray for the last number of years and is one of Ireland’s leading theatre makers for young audiences, creating unique theatre adventures for babies, early years, and children/young people with complex needs.
Sinead O’Reilly, Head of Local Arts Development in the Arts Council, will deliver a presentation on the current Arts Council funding schemes and deadlines as well as offering advice on how to connect with staff and advisors.
Artists can apply to receive two workshops from Paul Johnson and Helen Meany, independent arts managers, curators, and strategists to support the preparation of funding applications.
Following on from the group clinic these are additional supports for artists: each artist will receive two sessions individually delivered and tailored to their own need from either Paul or Helen. The advice clinics will take place via Zoom and artists interested in applying can express interest via the short application on the www.wicklow.ie website under Arts Office – Artist Supports.
Applicant artists should have identified a body of work and funding goals for 2022 to workshop with the advisors. If successful two sessions for each artist will be offered via zoom. The Arts Office will connect successful candidates with the advisors. In the event of oversubscription, shortlisting may apply.
As part of its suite of clinics and development opportunities in 2022, the Arts Office is offering coaching/mentoring sessions with experienced coaches and expert consultants from the arts sector.
It is hoped that this opportunity will support people’s resilience and planning in 2022. The objective is to build the confidence and capacity of artists and arts professionals to be at their best in 2022. Artists will express interest via an online application process and if successful will receive two coaching sessions from one of the coaching panels.
