Bray Area Partnership Social Prescribing Service|Walking Group

New walking group for Greystones will commence on Wednesday,  23 February 2022.

All ages and fitness levels are welcome to take part in this four week programme.

Come along and join a small walking group where people can walk and enjoy a chat.

Participants will get a free pedometer at the start.

And a free gift at the end of the programme.

Walking group will start at 10 am.  Location not yet announced.

Location may depend on number of participants who register.

Walking group is free,  but places are limited.

Please register by 18 February 2022.

Attendance of the Public and Media at remote meetings.

Procedures to be observed.

  1. Members of the public and media may be present at a remote meeting of Greystones Municipal District
  1. Attendees must comply with Greystones Municipal District Standing Orders and Supplementary Standing Orders to Regulate Remote Meetings.
  1. Members of the media and public shall give prior notice of a request to join an online meeting of Greystones Municipal District.
  1. Requests must be emailed to Greystonesmd@wicklowcoco.ie no later than 12 noon on the day of the meeting.   A name and email address is required.
  1. The link to the meeting is for the recipient only and must not be forwarded on to any other person(s).
  1. Attendees must maintain silence and observe any directions given by the Cathaoirleach or by an official of the Council.  Microphones must be kept on mute at all times.
  1. Members of the public and the media do not have the right to speak, any interruptions or endeavours to interrupt will result in the remote connection being terminated.
  1. No recording of the meeting and its proceedings by any person in attendance (elected members, media or members of the public) is permitted.

Wickow Arts Office Funding Schemes 2022 Now Open

Applications for Artist Award Scheme and Artists and Communities Collaboration Award Scheme.

Arts Festival Awards Scheme will follow.

The main aim of these schemes is to empower artists and communities to move forward.

Online advice clinic to help with applications will take place on 23 February.

Places can be booked free of charge on Eventbrite.

All art forms,  discipline and genre are eligible to apply.

Maximum award offered is €5,000,  although awards are offered for smaller amounts.

The Greystones Guide | Wicklow Arts Office Funding Now Open

Wicklow County Council|Road Closure|Priory Road Delgany

Road will be closed form 23 February 2022 to 23 March 2022.

8 am to 5 pm inclusive.

Local access traffic only.

Road will be opened during the night using a traffic light system.

Road closure is to facilitate the construction of a footpath,  public lighting installation.

And widening of the road.

Greystones Active Retirement Association (GARA)

Wonderful group for the over 50s in the Greystones and surrounding areas.

Lots going on,  there is something for everyone at GARA !!

Regular GARA activities are now in sessions.

Ongoing activities include:

  • Art                         Mondays         2.30 pm to  4.30 pm.
  • Short Mat Bowling     Tuesdays       10.45 am to 12.45 pm.
  • Bingo                     Thursdays        2.30 pm to  4.30 pm.

Card Making Workshops Now Starting !!

Card making workshops will take place on Friday mornings,  10 am to 11.30 am.

Kilian House Family Centre beside Holy Rosary Church.

Here are the dates for your Calendars:

          4 and 11 March

          1, 8 and 22 April

          6, 13 and 20 May

This will be an interesting and fun activity.

Create cards for special occasions for your loved ones.

They are sure to be impressed !!

Cost is €4 per session.

All materials and equipment will be supplied.

Coffee Morning will be held on 25 February 2022 and on each last Friday of the month.

Kilian House Family Centre,  10.30 am to 11.30 pm. 

All GARA activities take place in Kilian House Family Centre,  beside Holy Rosary Church.

Wicklow Age Friendly Survey Extended Into February

If you missed completing the survey before Christmas,  you now have another chance !!

Wicklow County Council wants to hear the views of older people living in the county.

The information provided will help to identify and ensure that proper services are developed.

People are now living longer than ever and a strong focus for older people is necessary.

Areas of interest could include outdoor spaces,  transport,  housing,  social participation.

Community support and health services.

This is an easy survey to complete and won’t take long.

Applications are invited from WCC Social Housing Estates.

Funding relates to the upkeep of green areas within the estates.

Private housing estates,  with a number of Local Authority properties may also apply.

Wicklow Garda Youth Awards

Special reminder !!

Nominations now being accepted for deserving young people from around the county.

Awards will be considered for young people who make their communities a better place to live.

Group awards for two or more young people who have contributed positively to their community.

Special Achievement Awards will be for those who have overcome great difficulties.

A Community Safety Award will be presented for making their community a safer place.

Anyone,  including a family member,  can nominated someone for an award.

To be considered eligible,  the young person must be:

  • Aged between 13 and 21.
  • Permanently living in Co. Wicklow.
