Snow and Ice warning follows Storm Eunice

A Status Yellow Snow and Ice Warning for the entire country will follow Storm Eunice.

It has been a week of torrid weather in which MET Eireann have issued a weather warning for almost every day, the trend is now set to continue into the weekend.

The Yellow Snow and Ice Warning came into effect this morning and is valid until 10am on Saturday morning.

Falls of sleet and snow on Friday and Saturday with accumulations in some areas and icy stretches leading to hazardous driving conditions.

Many parts of Wicklow had flurries of snow on Friday, particularly in the Uplands.

TONIGHT

Showers will give way to a more persistent spell of rain later tonight, falling as sleet or snow on hills and mountains. Lowest temperatures of minus 1 to plus 2 degrees, with frost in sheltered areas. Winds will back southerly for a time before freshening from a westerly direction again by morning.

TOMORROW – SATURDAY 19TH FEBRUARY

The rain will clear tomorrow, Saturday, to scattered blustery showers. Afternoon temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees in fresh and gusty westerly winds. Further outbreaks of rain will develop in the evening.
