A Status Yellow Snow & Ice Warns been issued by MET Eireann.
The Warning which is valid from 10pm on Wednesday until noon on Thursday was issued this afternoon.
Blustery squally showers of hail, sleet and snow with icy stretches on untreated surfaces will lead to hazardous driving conditions on Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Some thunder and lightning expected too.

TONIGHT
The last of the rain will clear the southeast early tonight, leaving a cold tonight with clear spells. Scattered wintery showers of rain, hail, sleet and snow will spread from the west overnight. There is a chance of isolated thunderstorms also. Some accumulations of snow are possible, mainly on higher ground. West to southwest winds will moderate somewhat. Lows of -1 to +1 Celsius with patchy frost and ice, especially in sheltered areas.
TOMORROW – THURSDAY 24TH FEBRUARY
Cold and windy on Thursday with sunny spells and scattered wintry showers. Snow showers and icy stretches during the morning will lead to treacherous conditions in some parts. Again there is a chance of hail and isolated thunderstorms. West to southwest winds will increase strong and gusty. Highs of 5 to 7 Celsius but feeling much colder due to the wind.
