Wicklow will be showcased as a holiday destination to millions of US audiences this month on a popular travel programme.
The Garden County and some of its most-loved beauty spots and attractions will feature in the show ‘Ireland with Michael’ on America’s public service broadcaster PBS.
Michael Londra, who is a Wexford native and now US citizen, travels across Ireland where he learns local Irish history, seeing its residents and talent, as well as enjoying its culture offering.
In the Wicklow episode, Mr Londra visits the 800-acre Kilruddery Estate where he’s met by the Lord Ardee of Meath and shown the stunning location.
Michael also visits Powerscourt House and explores its walled gardens, where he stops to tastes Fercullen Whiskey distilled in the mill house on-site.
His exploration comes to an end at Glendalough where the nine-piece a cappella Valda Chamber Choir perform.
Speaking about the programme and filming in Co Wicklow, Michael said it was an “honour to highlight our greatest asset” and he is “so proud of the country and the people in it”.
“We are delighted to release Season 2 of ‘Ireland with Michael’, the show has been such a huge hit in Season 1 with a viewership of 75 per cent of all U.S. households”, Mr Londra added.
