Céilí in Shill-éilí!

The pupils and staff of Scoil Mhuire na n-Áird, Shillelagh were blessed with good weather when holding an outdoor céilí as part of their Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations last week.

The children and staff had prepared the steps for Ballaí Luimní, and the live music for the céilí was provided by 3rd class pupil Aindí Healy on concertina, with his parents, Mairéad (also on concertina) and Rory (on fiddle), and ably accompanied on piano by Mrs. Mandy O’Callaghan.

Principal of Scoil Mhuire na n-Áird, Rory Healy, reported that there was a palpable sense of joy amongst pupils and staff on the day. Covid restrictions prevented mixing of class groups, so we are truly delighted to be able to allow pupils and staff to mix with, and interact with each other again.
