Teenager airlifted to hospital following fall

On Thursday afternoon theWicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Síochána to a report of a teenager with a deep laceration to his leg.

The teenager who was part of a large school hike in Glendalough, fell and sustained a lower leg injury which resulted in him being unable to continue the hike.

The group was located by SARLOC technology and then Mountain Rescue personnel made their way to the casualty position. Once medically assessed Rescue 116 was then tasked and the patient was transported to hospital by Helicopter.

Team was stood down at 16:02hrs.

Duration of incident: 2 hours, 1 minute.
