Bridgewater Shopping Centre opens support hub for Ukrainian refugees

Bridgewater Shopping Centre in Arklow has opened a new hub which supports Ukrainian refugees who have recently arrived in Co Wicklow.

The hub, which is located in the former food court on level 2, will be open from Monday to Saturday going forward, between the hours of 10am to 6pm.

Ukrainian citizens can seek essential items, such as hygiene products, food, clothing and toys as well as practical advice.

“This is a space where Ukrainian citizens can come to seek information and advice, and will receive a friendly welcome, along with clothing and essential items,” said a spokesperson for the shopping centre.

People are being urged to donate any essential items they may have.

Donations currently being sought are clothing, new and unworn underwear and socks for all ages, toiletries, non-perishable food, toys and electronics for older children.

People Before Profit Arklow spokesperson Lorraine Farrell said today that she is delighted to welcome Ukrainian refugees and encouraged people to get behind the donation drive at Bridgewater.
