Redford Park Junction Improvement Scheme

The junction on the R761 at Lidl/Redford Park will undergo major improvements.

These improvements will be for pedestrians and cyclists.

Footpaths will be upgraded and protected cycle track facilities will be included.

Also, improvement through the upgrade of two existing bus stops in the immediate vicinity.

Full details will be available from Greystones Municipal District Office from 25 April 2022.

Working days,  9.30 am to 12.30 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm.

Submissions or observations may be made before Friday,  10 June 2022,  at 12 pm.

Attendance of the Public and Media at remote meetings.

Procedures to be observed.

  1. Members of the public and media may be present at a remote meeting of Greystones Municipal District
  1. Attendees must comply with Greystones Municipal District Standing Orders and Supplementary Standing Orders to Regulate Remote Meetings.
  1. Members of the media and public shall give prior notice of a request to join an online meeting of Greystones Municipal District.
  1. Requests must be emailed to Greystonesmd@wicklowcoco.ie no later than 12 noon on the day of the meeting.   A name and email address is required.
  1. The link to the meeting is for the recipient only and must not be forwarded on to any other person(s).
  1. Attendees must maintain silence and observe any directions given by the Cathaoirleach or by an official of the Council.  Microphones must be kept on mute at all times.
  1. Members of the public and the media do not have the right to speak, any interruptions or endeavours to interrupt will result in the remote connection being terminated.
  1. No recording of the meeting and its proceedings by any person in attendance (elected members, media or members of the public) is permitted.

Hot Spot Music Club,  Above The Beach House,  Greystones Harbour Marina;  7.30 pm.

The theme is Written in the Stars,  a starry,  starry night with wonderful participants !!

  • Greystones poets,  Eithne Hand,  Paul T. Dillon,  Lorraine O’Brien, Peig Meig
  • Seanachaí,  Mick Heffernan,  musician.
  • Frances Browner and participating poets in Written in the Stars.

Doors open at 7.15 pm.

Each Member of the audience will receive a poem card.

Greystones Tidy Towns|Sunflower Seed Shop

Saturday,  30 April 2022,  Burnaby Park,  10 am to 12 pm.

Greystones Tidy Towns are planning to plant 1,000 sunflowers over the summer.

You can help them paint the town yellow in support of Ukraine !!

Proceeds from the day will be in aid of a local charity shop supporting Ukrainians in North Wicklow.

Ukrainian Support Hub

A support hub has been established in Hillside Church.

As new families arrive,  the needs differ each week.

Appeals may be made at short notice.

We cannot underestimate the value of friendship.

The hub is open at Hillside Church,  Hillside Road.

Every Tuesday and Friday,  10 am to 12 pm.

You are most welcome to come along and have a cup of coffee with old and new friends.

Greystones Folk Group Craft Bags for Ukrainian Children

Greystones Folk Group recently held a Fun Craft Morning for Ukrainian families.

Another Craft Morning will be held shortly.

Special thanks to all who donated toys and items.

You could help by contributing a Craft Bag for the children.

It is easy and fun to do.  Simply collect craft items and place in a Zip Lock Bag.

Lock the bag and put a sticker on the bag indicating the age and gender of the child.

Greystones Folk Group will do its best to make sure your Craft Bag gets to the child.

Craft items include colouring books,  markers,  colouring pencils,  Pritt stick,  pencils.

Rubbers,  sharpener,  bubbles,  small toy,  plus other suggestions of your own.

Craft Bags can be left with Greystones Folk Group.

They sing each Sunday at the 11.30 am Mass,  Holy Rosary Church.

Greystones Library:  Free Book Bags for Children Starting School in September

Wonderful offer for 4 and 5 year old children who begin their national schooling in September.

They can also begin their library membership journey at the same time.

Stories in the books are about starting school,  being happy and making friends.

Book Bags are free.

Children will also be given a specially designed wallet to hold their new library card.

Parents and Caregivers will be given information to help children transit from pre-school.

Book Bags can be collected from Greystones Library,  Mill Road,  01.2873548.

Greystones Active Retirement Association (GARA)

Wonderful group for the over 50s in the Greystones and surrounding areas.

Even more going on,  there is something for everyone at GARA !!

Ongoing activities include:

  • Art                         Mondays         2.30 pm to  4.30 pm.
  • Short Mat Bowling     Tuesdays       10.45 am to 12.45 pm.
  • Bingo                     Thursdays        2.30 pm to  4.30 pm.

Coffee Morning will be held on 29 April 2022 and on each last Friday of the month.

Kilian House Family Centre,  10.30 am to 11.30 pm. 

This month’s guest will be Eamonn Ó Raghallaigh from Greystones Music Circle.

Eamonn will present Songs from the Shows.

Poetry and Short Stories

Rosa and May,  two Transition Year students,  will read GARA poetry and short stories.

This project was initiated by the GAA.

It is called the Dermot Earley Leadership Project.

The project promotes community Poetry and Storytelling.
