A man in his 60s was rescued this week from Lugnaquilla after he suffered a suspected heart attack.
The Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were called out by An Garda Síochána on Easter Monday.
It’s understood the man became unwell while hiking with a group of people and a nurse, who was in the group, looked after him until emergency services arrived.
Once tasked, Mountain Rescue personnel made their way to the casualty’s location, however due to the weather closing in and the possible seriousness of the patient, Rescue 116 was tasked to evacuate the patient.
After the patient was packaged and winched into Rescue 116, the rest of the group were escorted safely down to the Ow valley by Mountain Rescue personnel who had now arrived on scene.
The callout, which is the 27th so far this year, was stood down after two and a half hours.
