A house in Co Wicklow has won this year’s series of popular RTÉ programme Home of the Year.
The stunning 150-year-old farmhouse is owned by couple Kate and Shane Byrne and the property has been in Shane’s family for decades.
When they moved in, in 2018, they knocked through all the smaller rooms and added an extension to create an open plan living space with lots of natural light.
The property captured the attention of judges Hugh, Amanda and Sara and was declared Home of the Year during the final tonight on RTÉ One.

“It takes a lot to make me speechless but I just cannot believe it,” said Kate following the win.
Her husband Shane said: “The other houses were amazing and the people were brilliant as well so it could have been anyone, but it was us and we’re delighted.”
Kate added: “It’s testament to the work that went into it and we can be proud of ourselves for having achieved this.”
“This home represents Home of the Year for me at best,” said judge Sara. “It has such a gorgeous feeling when you walked in – they really managed to do something special.”
