Dunlavin notes week May 9th

Dunlavin AFC

Hard luck to our u15s last night who lost 3-1 to Derry Rovers in the league last night at home.

Rovers struck first early in the first half. Aaron Geoghegan equalised within 5 minutes to make it 1-1. Dunlavin got back on top in terms of possession but Rovers struck again. They went down the right side of the pitch and put a hopeful cross into the box to be put into the net. Henry Walshe in the goals made a great save initially but a rebound from his save was turned in to make it 2-1. Rovers made 3-1 heading towards the the end of the half. This time they went down the left side of the pitch. Poor defending by Dunlavin let in a soft goal to make it 3-1 at halftime.

Dunlavin battled hard in the second half to try claw back the difference. Kailin O’ Rourke was introduced up front late in the first half and quietened the dominant back 3 of rovers throughout the second half. Lucy Cox and Cillian Wright were solid in midfield, with Stephen Mahon making use of good possession. Dunlavin back 4 had a better second half, with Jeremiah Moore having a monster performance at centre half to keep the game at 3-1.
