Use of Ballinclash Community Hall offered to Council for Ukrainian refugees

The Ballinclash Community Association have announced they have offered the local Community Hall to Wicklow County Council to use in their attempts to help Ukrainian refugees.

At the latest meeting the Association unanimously agreed to contact Wicklow County Council and offer the use of the Community Hall.

It comes following an appeal made by the Council last month for individuals and businesses who have vacant premises to make contact with them as they seek to house Ukrainian nationals who have fled the war.

The Secretary of the Ballinclash Community Association Stephen Kearon said they decided to act following the council’s media appeal.

“We had seen the request in the media from Wicklow County Council looking for premises, and considering the urgent humanitarian need of those fleeing from the war in Ukraine, we decided we had to act and would offer our hall, especially as we had been in receipt of public money with grants that had allowed the upgrade of the kitchen and toilets last year,” Mr Kearon said.

WicklowNews.Net understands Wicklow County Council have already responded to the offer and have requested more information about the Community Hall.
