Whitmore welcomes installation of defibrillators at Brittas Bay

Social Democrats TD Jennifer Whitmore has welcomed the installation of new defibrillators at Brittas Bay. Deputy Whitmore had previously highlighted the need for defibrillators at this popular tourist spot, and says the timing is right just before the summer months kick off.

Deputy Whitmore says, “Last year, staff in Day Break raised with me the need for defibrillators after another emergency situation on the beach. As there have been a number of similar incidences over the summer period, I contacted Wicklow County Council to see about ensuring that the defibrillators are available at the public owned car parks in Brittas Bay.

I’m delighted to see that they Council have installed two defibrillators, one at the North Beach and another at South beach in Brittas Bay.

“I want to thank the local campaigners who made the authorities aware of the need of such important life saving equipment through rigorous campaigning and awareness raising. Through these efforts and other local campaigners, Wicklow is seeing more and more defibrillators being installed across the county.”
