Cllr. Pat Kennedy elected Cathaoirleach of the Arklow Municipal District

Councillor Pat Kennedy was been elected as the next Cathaoirleach of the Arklow Municipal District.

Cllr. Kennedy was elected unopposed during the Arklow Municipal District AGM held before Wednesday’s normal meeting.

He was proposed by Cllr. Sylvester Bourke who commented on Cllr. Kennedy’s experience particularly during the difficult time of COVID when Cllr. Kennedy was Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council.

The motion was seconded by Cllr. Pat Fitzgerald. Cllr. Kennedy said he was ‘honoured to be given the opportunity’ to be Cathaoirleach for the coming year and said that ‘it was important that the councillors worked together and a lot could be achieved by working together’. He thanked outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr Miriam Murphy, saying that she had ‘put in a lot of work over the last year’.

Councillor Tommy Annesley was elected Leas Cathaoirleach
