Dunlavin residents were shocked to learn of the sudden death of Philip Callery. Phil formerly of Dublin, passed away peacefully after a sudden illness in St Luke’s Hospital, Kilkenny. Predeceased by his brothers Michael and John. Beloved husband of Helen and loving father of Sarah, Rosa, Michael and Catherine. Sadly missed by his son in law Derek, Sarah’s partner Stephen, and adored by his grandsons, Darcy, Reuben and Hugo. Phil leaves a long-lasting legacy of a lifetime dedicated to Traditional Irish music and song, and will be greatly missed by that community which he loved. In particular his Voice Squad clann Fran McPhail and Gerry Cullen. His passing will be greatly felt by all the people and pupils he shared his love of music and song with. Following a moving tribute to Phil in St Nicholas Church of Myra, Dunlavin, his funeral took place in Dublin. May Phil rest in peace.
