Father’s Day|19 June 2022

Remembering all our fathers,  especially those who are no longer with us.

The Crossing 2022|Wicklow to Wales|Stand Up Paddle

Damien Wildes and Charlie Fleetwood will be doing a Stand Up Paddle across the Irish Sea.

The pair will travel from Greystones Harbour Marina to Holyhead in Wales.

This mammoth journey will be in aid of three Wicklow charities.

  • Purples House Cancer Support
  • RNLI|Greystones Newtown Branch
  • Sharpeshill SPCA

Their target is €15,000 !!

The team will leave Greystones at 3 am,  hoping to arrive between 7 pm and 8 pm that evening in Holyhead.

Travel date will be between 7 and 10 July,  depending on the tides.

Members of the public are being warned about potential “smishing” and “vishing” scams.

These scams relate to the new Covid-19 variant.

The HSE will never call or text individuals requesting personal information.

They will never request payment for a Covid-19 antigen test.

If you have any vulnerable friends or family,  please let them know about these scams.

Applications are now being accepted.

Scheme is for not-for-profit organisations,  local community groups.

Arts, heritage and cultural groups,  venues and societies.

WCC is seeking projects that effectively capture and showcase the richness of Wicklow culture.

Closing date is 5 pm on 24 June 2022.

Wicklow County Council Road Closure|Convent Road Delgany

Period of closure is from 30 May 2022 to 29 July 2022,  inclusive.

Diversion via R762,  Church Road,  and L1025,  Delgany Wood Avenue.

Road closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of foul and surface water pipelines.

WicklowAid4 Ukraine has been set up by local support groups.

These groups are travelling to Poland and Ukraine to help Ukrainian families.

These families need support with relocating and logistics.

A support hub is now established in Hillside Church.

As new families arrive,  the needs differ each week.

Appeals may be made at short notice.

We cannot underestimate the value of friendship.

The hub is open at Hillside Church,  Hillside Road.

Every Tuesday and Friday,  10 am to 12 pm.

You are most welcome to come along and have a cup of coffee with old and new friends.

Liminality are two singer/songwriter sisters,  Rebecca and Abigail.

They went to France at ages 6 and 4 and then studied for their music degrees.

The are now back in Ireland as a touring duo.

Marie Keane is a Wicklow based singer/songwriter.

She has performed in many blues,  soul and jazz ensembles.

Come along to listen or play !!

All jazz instrumentalists and singers welcome.

Great opportunity to play with other jazz musicians.

Or to just come along and watch.

Please arrive early to sign in and ensure you get a chance to play.

To take part,  you need to be able to play at least one tune.

And then improvise over it.

Jazz standards like those from the Real Book series,  iRealPro app.

Piano,  drum kit,  mics and amps are in the venue.

However,  musicians are advised to bring their own amps and music stands.

This is a regular jazz session to develop and bring the jazz community together.
