The Crossing 2022|Wicklow to Wales|Stand Up Paddle

Damien Wildes and Charlie Fleetwood will be doing a Stand Up Paddle across the Irish Sea.

The pair will travel from Greystones Harbour Marina to Holyhead in Wales.

This mammoth journey will be in aid of three Wicklow charities.

  • Purples House Cancer Support
  • RNLI|Greystones Newtown Branch
  • Sharpeshill SPCA

Their target is €15,000 !!

The team will leave Greystones at 3 am,  hoping to arrive between 7 pm and 8 pm that evening.

Travel date will be between 7 and 10 July,  depending on the tides.

Wicklow County Council|Creative Wicklow Grant Scheme 2022

Applications are now being accepted.

Scheme is for not-for-profit organisations,  local community groups.

Arts, heritage and cultural groups,  venues and societies.

WCC is seeking projects that effectively capture and showcase the richness of Wicklow culture.

Closing date is 5 pm on 24 June 2022.

Siel Bleu|30 Days to Better Ways

Siel Bleu Ireland is a social enterprise and a not for profit organisation.

The group transforms lives through exercise.

Before the pandemic,  in-person classes were held at Shoreline Leisure Greystones.

Siel Bleu Ireland delivers exercise programmes for older adults.

Also to people living with chronic conditions and disability.

The aim is to improve physical, social and mental wellbeing

The Siel Bleu 30 Days to Better Ways campaign offers older people free daily online classes.

These classes will help a return to a level of fitness that many lost during the pandemic.

Exercise classes are a great way to improve health and well being.

Siel Bleu online exercise classes are flexible and easy to do.

Definitely worth a try.

Hospice Sunflower Days raise much needed funds for hospice and palliative home care.

Period of closure is from 30 May 2022 to 29 July 2022,  inclusive.

Diversion via R762,  Church Road,  and L1025,  Delgany Wood Avenue.

Road closure is necessary to facilitate the installation of foul and surface water pipelines.

WicklowAid4 Ukraine has been set up by local support groups.

These groups are travelling to Poland and Ukraine to help Ukrainian families.

These families need support with relocating and logistics.

A support hub is now established in Hillside Church.

As new families arrive,  the needs differ each week.

Appeals may be made at short notice.

We cannot underestimate the value of friendship.

The hub is open at Hillside Church,  Hillside Road.

Every Tuesday and Friday,  10 am to 12 pm.

You are most welcome to come along and have a cup of coffee with old and new friends.

This list changes from time to time as needs vary.

Drop off for donations is Tuesday and Friday,   10 am to 1 pm.
