Dublin and Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team and Glen of Imaal Red Cross Mountain Rescue were tasked by An Garda Síochána to a report of a 60-year-old female who sustained a lower leg injury yesterday.
A group of three left Glenmacnass around 10.30 on Sunday morning.
A few hours into the hike one of the group, a female in her 60s, went over on her ankle and was unable to bear weight on it.
Another hiker who came across the group contacted Mountain Rescue and personnel were dispatched to the casualty location given to the callout officer by the informant.
After the patient was assessed and pain relief administered, she was then packaged and loaded onto a stretcher for extraction down to a waiting National Ambulance Service and crew.
The callout, which is the 45th so far this year, lasted for almost four hours.
