AnniePooh to close doors in August

Ann Teehan of Annie Pooh in Greystones has announced her independent Zero Waste Shop is closing down as there just aren’t enough people shopping package free.

AnniePooh which is located on Hillside Road in Greystones will revert to online only.

Ann said

“As our climate emergency progresses people are not feeling the urgency of our situation. It’s really frightening.

I announced the closure on Wednesday after making the tough decision. AnniePooh has 4 local staff including myself.

“The last 2 years have been a rollercoaster for us all, but the last 6 months have been really difficult for us at AnniePooh. We have seen a big decrease in customers coming through our doors, we’re struggling with increasing costs (like everyone!) and an increase in competition who we cannot compete with.

So, with a heavy heart, I am closing our shop in Greystones on 20th August 5pm.

We will remain open online at (minus our food and detergent refills)

We’ll be here for the next 6 weeks so pop in and refill, reuse, repeat.

To our customers:

I am really sorry to disappoint our long-standing, loyal customers who have been using the same containers to refill with us for nearly 3 years saving a huge amount of packaging waste. I cannot thank you enough for your support. Because of you we have saved thousands of plastic bottles and packaging from being used.”

Thanks for all your support
