The Arklow Seabreeze Festival Committee announced on Sunday they have dropped the Pig Race from the Festival.
The race had caused controversy for years, animal rights groups and protesters had held demonstrations at the festivals over the years and many petitions had taken place.
The Festival got underway on Sunday as the Seabreeze Princess was chosen, this Wednesday the Swinging pubs starts with the Main Events from July Friday 15th of July until Sunday the 17th.
