Carnew notes week July 25th

SYMPATHY 

Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of John Keogh, Emmet Place, Carnew who died recently and was buried on Tuesday in Kilavaney cemetery.

GAA LOTTO 

Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were 15,17 27,32, lucky dips were Paul Kelly and Wally Power. The next draw is 1st August and the jackpot is €11,200, tickets can be bought on line or in any of the local shops.

SPLIT THE POT 

Carnew Back Alley Development fund are holding a split the pot for the summer months which started last Friday and the winner was Angela Cushen winning €85, congratulations Angela.

Tickets are €2 and can be bought in Centra, Candys, Victor Young and CARNEW Training and Development Centre.

They are also holding a Mayoral campaign with the following taking part, Bert Cogley, Jimmy Reid, Chuckie House and Majella Walsh with various fund raisers , Bert started his with a coffee morning last Friday in Chillax Centre, thanks to everyone for their support.

SOCIAL DANCE 

Askamore Community Centre are holding a social dance on Friday 31st July , doors open at 9pm dancing at 9 .30pm , music by Andy Feary admission €10 and refreshments served.

DANCE OF UNIVERSAL PEACE 

Dance of Universal Peace will take place in Askamore Community Centre on Friday August 5th and September 2nd from 7-9pm, admission €10, please wear comfortable clothing and bring slippers, facilitator is Bernadette Lacey call 0879921340 or email Lacey.bernadette @gmail.com

BIRTHDAY 

Happy 80th birthday to Mick Byrne, Knocknalour of Kilrush Drama group , Mick is director of Gorey’s Little Theatre groups performance of Tuesdays with Morrie staring father and son Garry and Garrett Lombard, some of Kilrush drama group crew are helping back stage, the play is on from 17th -30th inclusive at 8pm admission is €5.

Chairperson Cathy Tighe celebrated a special birthday also.

POP UP GARDA STATION 

Pop Up Garda Station in Askamore Community Hall on Friday 29th July at 10am until 11am. All welcome 

Tinahely Craft Market

The Tinahely Craft market is now open on Friday as well as Saturdays… opening hours are 10-4 pm. There is a great selection of beautifully crafted pieces which make ideal gifts ….please come along and support your local artisans…
