Daniel Murtagh to appeal murder conviction for killing of Nadine Lott

Daniel Murtagh, who was convicted of the murder of his ex-girlfriend Nadine Lott, has launched an appeal to have his conviction overturned.

The 34-year-old with an address at Melrose Grove, Bawnogue, Clondalkin, Dublin had pleaded guilty to manslaughter but denied the murder of Ms Lott at her home in Arklow in December 2019.

However, following a two-week trial the jury returned a unanimous verdict and found Mr Murtagh guilty of murdering 30-year-old Nadine.

According to papers filed at the Court of Appeal today, Mr Murtagh will attempt to have his conviction overturned.

The court heard from Murtagh’s legal representatives today.

A full hearing date has not yet been set and the case will be called back for mention on July 15.
