Motorists urged to park with care this week end.

With hot weather forecast over the coming days County Wicklow is set to see an increase in visitors.

Gardai are urging motorists to be mindful when parking, if visiting public amenities and no parking is available please do not park in a manner likely to cause obstruction or danger.

Last week-end Gardai handed out a large number of fixed penalty notices for illegal and dangerous parking at a number of beauty spots and beaches.

Earlier this week Wicklow Superintendent Declan McCarthy said “Gardai would have to ramp up towing, following irresponsible parking throughout the county last week end.

Glendalough, Magheramore and Rathdrum were particularly busy last week-end.

Gardai are urging motorists to be mindful when parking, if visiting public amenities and no parking is available please do not park in a manner likely to cause obstruction or danger.

Motorists are also being reminded not to park or block entrances to woodlands and forestries as it could restrict access for Emergency services and the Wicklow/Dublin Mountain Rescue.

Extra parking is available at Luggala, Laragh and a pay parking car park at Magheramore.
