Woman recovered from north beach in Arklow named

The woman who was recovered from the north beach in Arklow has been named locally as Anne Kearon from Ferrybank in Arklow.

Gardai were called to the scene after a group of teenagers spotted what they thought was a body in the water at around 11am on Thursday.

The area was sealed off by the Gardaí and the body was removed by Arklow RNLI and taken to the Lifeboat Station, where she was pronounced dead.

The body was taken to Loughlinstown Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place.
