Four fun filled days of family activities in Rathdrum

Four fun filled days of family activities and live music performances have been created by Wicklow Arts Office in collaboration with Rathdrum Development Association as part of the final edition of ‘Summer Songs Inland and By the Sea.’

Taking place in Parnell Memorial Park, Rathdrum, from 18th to 21st August, some of the activities and workshops available include willow weaving workshops, perfect for the whole family; an ‘Introduction to Songwriting’ workshop, ideal for both beginner and experienced young songwriters, and basic Hip Hop dance workshops with Zoe Patterson of FYI Dance Club.

Music highlights will include live performances by the Penston Family singing West End and Broadwayfavourites; Mia Parsons Quartet, showcasing a local rich and unique jazz sound; Teddy and Cathal Social Band with a mix of country and trad, and one of Ireland’s most acclaimed live artists, Paddy Casey, supported by Florence Road a young up-and-coming band from Bray.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr Tommy Annesley, said he was pleased that the  Council was supporting a third edition of ‘Summer Songs – Inland and by the Sea’ this year, catering for local families in rural locations.

Deputy Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Mr Michael Nicholson, said he was delighted with the range of activities and musical talents on offer in this year’s programme which is supported by the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme provided by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
