Met Éireann upgrades thunderstorm warning for entire country

Orange weather warning

Met Éireann has upgraded its thunderstorm warning for Ireland today – Sunday, August 14th.

The forecaster has changed its previous yellow warning to an orange warning.

“Thunderstorm activity expected,” they said. “Due to the sporadic nature of development, not all areas will be affected.

“Heavy downpours of rain and hail will occur in places. Flooding where heavy downpours occur.”

The warning is valid from 3pm today until 9am tomorrow morning.

An orange warning should be taken seriously, Met Éireann said as it relates to weather that is “infrequent, dangerous and disruptive”.
