Peter Byrne has been appointed full-time mechanic at Wicklow RNLI lifeboat Station. Peter, who has been a volunteer crew member for the past three years, takes over the role from Brendan Copeland, who retired earlier this summer.
As full time Wicklow RNLI Mechanic, Peter will be responsible for maintaining the station’s two lifeboats in a constant state of readiness and the day-to-day maintenance of the busy station’s lifesaving equipment. While at sea Peter will be in charge of monitoring machinery on board the lifeboat and keeping radio contact with the station.
Speaking about his new role at Wicklow RNLI, Peter Byrne said he was looking forward to being mechanic and thanked the volunteer crew for their support. He also thanked Brendan Copeland for his mentoring and advice during the changeover at the station.
