Roisin Long is representing the Garden County in this year’s contest with support arriving for the Wicklow Rose to be crowned the 2022 Rose of Tralee winner.
The 25-year-old from Arklow, recently graduated from Maynooth University where she studied Psychology and Irish and has become a junior buyer and merchandiser for a fashion company.
The beautiful Wicklow Rose enjoys step aerobics and sea swimming with BoyleSports traders reporting on Thursday afternoon that some bets were being placed on her to win the crown. Long was priced up at 40/1 when the betting was made available but now those odds have been trimmed into 25/1 with support arriving for the first time.
Texas Rose Arden Stringer became the new favourite a few days ago with the odds plummeting into 9/4 from 20/1. Further support arrived this week which has resulted in the 29-year-old from Dallas now becoming a 15/8 shot to win the title in Tralee.
Sarah Kinsella, spokesperson for BoyleSports said: “The support is well spread out across the Rose of Tralee betting with Wicklow Rose Roisin Long backed into 25/1 from 40/1 on Thursday. Texas Rose Arden Stringer has tightened her grip on favouritism however with those odds now into 15/8 from a high of 20/1 just a few days ago.”
