Carnew notes week September 5th


Sincere sympathy is extended to the family and relatives of Har Roche, Hillbrook who died recently and was buried on Friday in All Saints Carnew cemetery.


The lucky winner of our split the pot draw for Scoil Aodan Naofa Carnew who won €231 was Betty Whelan. Congratulations. 

The seller’s prize of €10 was Jack Kelly and the lucky dip was Kathleen Molloy.Our next split the pot draw takes place next Friday 8th September. 


Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were1,7,20,21, lucky dips were Alice Hennessy and Elaine Murphy, the next draw is 12th September and the jackpot is €11,500, tickets can be bought on line or in any of the local shops. Thanks to everyone for their support todate it is greatly appreciated.

Tinahely Craft Market

The Tinahely Craft market is now open on Wednesday as well as Friday & Saturdays… opening hours are 10-4 pm. There is a great selection of beautifully crafted pieces which make ideal gifts ….please come along and support your local artisans… 


William Kelly from Kelly Agri Consultants will be hosting Agri-Environmental Training Scheme training day on Tuesday 13th September 2022 in Askamore Community Centre, Gorey,Co.Wexford, Y25F6D8.

This training day is for farmers interested in learning new environmental practices and standards and keeping updated with future agri-environment schemes. The training day will start at 9:30, with 3 hours in the Hall, followed by lunch, then three hours in a field (location still to be confirmed). 

There are limited spaces at these training sessions, so please make your interest known to Eilish Kilbride at 0852156848, providing her with your herd number, the name on the herd number, your phone number and whether or not you have access to an Ag Food account. The name of the person who is on the herd number is the only one allowed to attend the training day.

There is a men only exercise class on Monday and Thursdays for 8 weeks in St Bridget’s Hall, Carnew from 10,30am – 11.30am,  this course is free. For further details or to register email

Carnew Heritage club are busy getting ready for their heritage day on Sunday 18th September with the cutting of corn, an array of vintage combines, threshing of oats, all makes and models of vintage tractors are welcome, vintage cars  pre 1990, local businesses are welcome to come, contact club members for more details.

Ailish and Paul Little’s annual coffee day will be held on Sunday 18th September from 10am – 8pm in Askamore Hall, all are welcome to come along for a cuppa and a chat, all monies raised locally stays local.
