Dunlavin & District Forum – Afternoon Tea Hostesses Needed

Dunlavin and District Forum are looking forward to a great day out on Sunday October 30th with Afternoon Tea in the Imaal Hall. Money raised will be to help us get prepared for our Christmas Lights and make sure we have a bright festive season in Dunlavin. We’re looking for hostesses who can help us out by hosting a table for the day. The Dunlavin Friendship Club

Great news that the Friendship club is back up and running, and will be taking place on Friday, September 16th. All are welcome!

St. Kevin’s Golf Classic

Culture Bus

Culture Bus will leave Dunlavin on Sunday September 25th to go to Powerscourt House and Waterfall. Leaving Dunlavin at 11am and returning at 6pm. Hope you can join us. Call 087 9693960 for information and to make a booking.

Culture Night

Dunlavin’s Market Square, will play host to a unique evening of gastronomy with an Interactive a Cookery Demonstration by Catherine Fulvio (Free event, but booking is required: https://culturenight.ie/event/interactive-cookery-demonstration-with-catherine-fulvio/), followed by performances by four of Ireland’s finest musicians, Niamh Kavanagh (singer), Lynda O’Connor (violin), Gerald Peregrine (cello), and Brian Connor (Piano). This family friendly evening is rounded off by a by local singer-songwriter, Amy Barrett, in concert.  This music event is free, and no booking is required. Art Classes

A 5 week term will begin on the 21st of September in the Seomra in Dunlavin .Classes will be kept small so book early to guarantee a spot. Contact Delmar for further information.

Heads Up

HEADSUP Kildare – are delighted to announce that they will be running a Pilot 4- week HEADSUP Women’s Programme in October in Newbridge. This is our first programme for women, and we hope to offer a full programme, following a successful pilot in October.

Heritage Trail

Dunlavin & District Forum have launched a new heritage trail around the village depicting the local history and heritage of the town. Well worth a trip around the village. Congratulations to all involved.

Training

KARE will be running a full time, 52 Week community based Local Training Initiative Programme commencing in early October 2022. This programme is free to attend , open to all applicants, training allowance provided and any social welfare payments can be retained while completing the course.

On successful completion of this programme participants will have achieved a QQI Level 5 Major Award in Intellectual Disability Practice. Participants on the programme will be supported to achieve their major QQI award while gaining practical on the job experience within KARE’s services throughout Kildare and Wicklow.

Dunlavin Library

Dunlavin Library’s opening hours are now as follows: Tuesday 5-8 , Wednesday and Friday 10-1 and 2-5 and Saturday 11-1 pm. 
Your Library card gives you free access to books and audio materials as well as access to online materials and resources including magazines, courses and Find My Past which will allow you to discover your family history. Printing and photocopying service also available. Joining is free and no late fees are chargeable on overdue items. Great selection of new films in stock for young and old.

Adoration

Adoration – of the Blessed Sacrament takes place in St Nicholas of Myra Church, Dunlavin, on Thursday evenings from 8pm-9pm.  All are welcome!

Panic Buttons

Anyone who is over the age of 65 may apply for a Panic Button. If you are interested, or know of someone who may require one and is living in the Dunlavin area, the necessary application form can be accessed by calling 086-1020303. 

Used Postage Stamps

Please keep your used postage stamps for St. Patrick’s Missions, Kiltegan who use them to fundraise. Stamps can be dropped into the Parish office any time. Thank you to all who have donated in the past.

The Irish Cancer Society

The Irish Cancer Society is looking for volunteers to drive patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments in all public hospitals nationwide. Volunteers will need their own car but all expenses are paid. If you have 2 free days a month (Monday – Friday) and an active email address we would love to hear from you.
