Wicklow County Council is pleased to be associated with the Irish Mid-Amateur Golf Championships which will be held in Blainroe Golf Club in Wicklow.
The event will run from Friday, 23rd September, to Sunday, 25th September, with practice rounds being held on Thursday.
The Championships attracts elite golfers from Ireland and abroad and promise to be a great event with defending champion Paul O’Hanlon from Carton House set to tee off at 13.50pm on Friday while David Smyth, Joe Lyons and Paul Flynn will have the defending champion in their sights.
From an initial entry of 156, the first cut sees 89 of the very best tee up on Friday morning. All players have handicaps at scratch or better and represent golf clubs from Portmarnock to Cork to Ballinasloe. International competitors include Niall Handley from the US and Daniel Hahn from Germany as well as many representatives from Northern Ireland.
For the first time, and in parallel with the Men’s event, the Ladies Mid-Amateur event will also take place. In this competition, 25 of the very best ladies will seek to make their mark in a very special championship.
Tee times start from 8am on Friday morning while the final cut will take place after Day 2. Scoring will be published on the Golf Ireland website.
