With one month to go, The Wicklow Hospice Marathon and Half Marathon returns this October to raise vital funds for Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services, Wicklow.
Following a successful and enjoyable inaugural marathon event in 2021, this year, the Hospice is hoping to build on that success and have over 150 participants across the half and full marathons.
Speaking about the event, Eleanor Flew, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services Director of Fundraising and Communications said, “We’re delighted to bring this race back as it was well supported by the community last year, we hope to see old friends and welcome new faces. We encourage people to put on their runners and take to the road to jog/run this looped course.
“We encourage all participants to raise a minimum of €100 in sponsorship. The fundraising team can help with sponsorship cards, setting up an online fundraising page and other advice. If you can’t take part perhaps you could sponsor a friend or help us spread the word about this event. Money raised will fund on-going enhancements to Wicklow Hospice and the purchasing of specialised equipment,” she explained.

Meeting at The Beehive Bar & Restaurant, runners will complete a looped course. The entry fee is €35 for the half marathon and €55 for the full marathon, with all participants receiving a medal. The event is open to individuals and club members of all ages.
